Khudi: Keeping up with hope!

Although, working for any social cause is a laborious job, but the level of contentment it wells up within you is beyond words. And, needless to mention, it has been quite an experiential and worthwhile experience. No matter whatever you perceive being an outsider, you cannot really feel unless you move under the shadow of their umbrella.

So far, we have been able to target more than 200 people residing in the slums by conducting three Iftar drives. Our campaigns are still intact, and currently, Khudi is heading towards helping out those families who are not having a direct source of income or perhaps those who are struggling to make ends meet (widows, divorced, caretakers & so on).

Apparently, the campaigns didn’t turn out to be as lucrative as expected yet we are targeting as much people as possible within and outside our circle. Primarily, all donations are turned in by close peers and acquaintances and this is a challenge that has been bugging us for quite a while now; not getting the right attention from strangers. However, as a team, we have had plenty discussions pertaining to this issue and thus far, we have concluded that no matter how difficult it may seem to be, we must extend our marketing approach to as many platforms as possible with regular updates on our operations. This transparency would eventually gain trust among strangers and yield donations.

Since last blog and the end of Ramadan, we are planning to bring ration into play; this monthly ration would comprise of basic edibles (wheat, sugar, pulses etc.) and reusable/washable masks to also contain the spread of Covid. The number of families that we are looking forward to target every month is entirely contingent upon the magnitude of donations. And, we are actively pitching our proposal on digital platforms to gain maximum donors. Nevertheless, we will essentially provide at least one family to get a head start and then observe the graph of donations to take further decisions.

In future, we are anticipating to optimize our model in a way that can incorporate more needs into our circle or perhaps collaborate with other organizations/people with similar interests to ameliorate our approach. This can probably be done by augmenting new products into our portfolio or by extending our domain to a larger audience.
